Marla and Peter-June 28th, 2008

Marla and Peter-June 28th, 2008

As a photographer, you always know when you get to that moment, when your subject just lets go, opens up, and shows you there truest emotions. The below pictures were just that moment.

I just want to thank Marla and Peter for allowing me the privilege of photographing there wedding. We were a little worried about the weather but it never rained, and it made for an excellent day at “Inn on The Twenty”, and the wedding ceremony at “Cave Spring Vineyards”.

Stay tuned and we will have your “Wedding Gallery” here on the right hand side of this blog by the end of next week. For those of you that know the Happy Couple and would like to view the gallery the password is the grooms last name in lower case letters.

Mac Vs PC-and other MISC Ramblings.

You know the debate about this rages. I find it interesting, that I’ve been working with Macs since my very first computer (Powermac 7100AV) As a photographer I love the interface, and everything seems to work the way it’s supposed to. I never have to worry about viruses, and finding my files is a snap.

I actually just found this photo of my first computer setup, back in my old office: check it out:

I had the power mac under the desk, I think I paid about 4k, I had an HP laser Jet printer, 2K, a Syquest Drive-which took 40MB, and 80MB rewritable disks, each disk costed $140, the drive costed about $600, I bought a Zip drive when they first came out, the drive was about $300, and 100mb zip disks costed me about $25 each, wow some of my photos these days are 140MB, I wouldn’t even be able to get it on a zip disk. I bought a 1GB 5.25 external HD, which I had to have, because I was out of space, this was a SCSI interface with this montrous cable, I paid $850 for this drive. It boggles  my mind how much technology has changed in only 12Yrs. I think my computer was maxed out with 32MB of ram, and the upgrade ran me almost 1K. I was running photoshop version 2, which you had to get into the habit of saving your work often, because you never new when it would crash.

I’ve been comparing my own blog on lots of different computers to see how it looks. Whenever I go anywhere where there is public access on the PC, I bring up the link and look at the photos, and they always look to dark, and the colors are not correct. This absolutely bugs the heck out of me. When I go and look at the same blog site on other Macs the photos always look great. I guess I’m just trying to pre warn any one viewing the site that if the photos look to dark or muddy, that I can assure you they are color perfect.

I use an Eye One Photo to calibrate my entire system from Monitors right through to my inkjet printers, and everything here is in a closed loop.

Well I hope your all enjoying my rambling, it is quite interesting, in 5 years from now well be looking back and saying “Hey remember when gas was $1.31 per liter, oh for my American friends that’s $4.96 per gallon. I bet Gas will be somewhere in the neighborhood of $15 per gallon, we better figure something out quick.

We shot these photos last night down at “Kew Beach” in Toronto, it was the perfect night for a shoot. These guys are allot of fun and I’m looking forward to doing there wedding photography at the end of August. They’re having there wedding at the McMichael Gallery in Kleinberg, ON. Should be a fun day, and I’m sure it will be here before we know it.

Enjoy the photos.
